Can a president be convicted of a crime as president, once he leaves office?
Q. If it was found out that President Bush committed crimes (for argument sake, let's say war crimes) during his presidency, can he be convicted after the fact? Is there a statue of limitations for the President? How long before he has immunity from this?

What does President Awards mean in a Toyota Service Center?
Q. Hi, I have a problem (need an oil change + some repair on my engine) with my car and I have really two dealerships to bring my car to, one was awarded president awards and another wasn't. The one without the president awards is closer to my house and I am planning to have my car fixed there. My question is that what does president award mean and would that affect the the quality of service significantly in my case?
Asked by ysd_clint - Sat Dec 20 10:03:14 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Basically, they get high marks on customer surveys. Some dealerships will specifically ask customers to reply to surveys with the highest checkmark possible, otherwise they don't get their awards/bonuses... I wouldn't let the award/lack of award sway you one way or the other. Just go wherever is convenient or has quoted you the lowest rate. (Each dealership has different hourly rates, set menu rates (oil change, x-mile service, etc.), and different prices on parts.)

What is the difference between president and president elect in a service organization?
Q. I'm working on a paper concerning my local Rotary Club. They have two offices for president: president and president elect. I'm not sure what the difference is, and nothing pops up on Google. My google isn't broken, but thanks. I'm pretty sure since both president and president-elect are listed in their handout (good for 1 year) that the offices and duties are different. I know what the president and president elect are concerning the United States political offices.

A. Between the election of a President and the moment they take office, they're called the President Elect, ie "the guy who has been elected to be President but isn't actually President yet". I don't know specifically how it works in the Rotary club.

Does a president deserve a certain level of respect for having been elected to high office by a majority?
Q. I don't think that pointing out that the previous president's name is a homonym of a slang word for female genitals, as many people have done, is appropriate. The same applies to the current president, not to mention everyone else. I think it is childish, and does not promote constructive discussion. What do you think?

A. Yes he does, but he does not deserve a blanket of immunity for his actions. His popularity is down, not because of being elected, because of his actions. This applies to Bush and Obama.

A. You said it: nPr So 12 P 2 = 12 x 11 = 132. What this means is that for the position of president, there can be 12 people. After the president is chosen, only 11 people remain for the second position of VP. Since you don't have a treasurer or secretary, you leave it at that. Just 12 x 11.

What is the eligibility period to serve as president?
Q. Although one person is limited to two four year terms elected as president, if I recall correctly, an individual can actually serve more than eight years. For instance, the president resigns and then the vice-president finishes up the former president's term. After which I believe they can still run for two terms as president as long as their total time served does not exceed something on the order of nine years and change. My question is: How long is that eligibility period?
Asked by Adam S - Wed Nov 5 23:56:09 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Ten years is the limit. For exactly the reason if the president dies in office than the VP can take over. That two years is added in there so that the VP can still have two full terms of their own.

Is President Bush out of touch with American desires or does he have his finger on the pulse of America?
Q. The President recently vetoed a health insurance plan for low income children. Now this is only a partial quote: "Poor kids first," Bush said. If a President is found to be ineligible after taking office, can he be removed?
Q. And if so, which court would have jurisdiction to do so? Would it be the House and/or Senate? There's no provision for the President to be removed other than high crimes and misdemeanors. What would happen? I'm asking because the only reasons I see listed in the Constitution is 'high crimes and misdemeanors' and being discovered to be ineligible (with no criminal act) doesn't seem to be covered. And no it's not certain that it would be discovered in advance. For example, the issue regarding McCain's eligibility hasn't been settled yet.

A. Not sure what would make someone "ineligible" to be President. I would imagine that if there were such a fact, it would have been discovered well before the person got into that office. But if you're talking about him bing born in the Canal Zone, it's a non-issue. Someone would have to successfully convince the Supreme Court to evaluate a pre-1900 law making the Zone, virtually, a part of the United States. And that has virtually a 0% chance of ever happening. That line of reasoning would hinder good people from ever serving the Country in foreign lands, on the off-hand chance that a child could be born to them while stationed there. Just like foreign embassies are considered a part of the foreign country, U.S. military installations… [cont.]

And you might do well to remember he is half-white. So some of the might blame the white blood in him.

What part of the Constitution allows the president to get away with NOT enforcing laws?
Q. It seems like presidents pick and choose which laws they will enforce --- such as illegal immigration, pot laws in CA, etc. I'm not saying that these are good or bad laws.
